Services

We offer regular on-site consultation hours as well as irregular workshops in which we advise you on IT topics in the context of activism. You can drop by at any time during our consulation hours.

Smartphone advice & hardware​

We help you to get suitable phones for private and/or activist use and set them up according to your wishes. We pay particular attention to high security standards (protection of sensitive content, resistance to physical access and remote attacks) and a suitable selection of apps for your purposes. We also provide information on sustainability aspects and pay attention to the long-term usability of the devices. In the future, we will also offer repairs for Pixel phones.

In most cases, we will recommend the use of GrapheneOS and can work with you to install it on suitable Pixel phones. iPhones (iPhone 8 and newer, with iOS 16) can also be satisfactorily hardened thanks to the new Lockdown Mode. We can check devices from other manufacturers and evaluate them with regard to the points mentioned above.

Note: we no longer offer the installation of other systems (e.g. LineageOS).

Laptop advice & installation service​

We offer to check older laptops and upgrade them if necessary (installation of more RAM and/or an SSD). We can give you recommendations for your existing system or install and set up Fedora Linux or chromeOS Flex. Fedora is a "classic" Linux with a focus on modern software selection and ease of use, chromeOS Flex is a modern system based on Chromium OS with very high security and a focus on web applications (Linux programs also work). Both systems can be tested before installation.

Of course, you can also get Tails sticks from us, including a short introduction.

"Upcycling" of donated laptops for solidarity purposes​

Laptops that are no longer needed can also be donated to us. Minimum requirements: Screen & keyboard intact, power supply available, a 64 bit CPU and 2-3 GB RAM (better 4 GB). For an initial assessment please contact us over Signal and send photos (unfortunately we cannot accept obviously defective devices). Depending on the suitability of the device, we will erase the hard disk and install Fedora or chromeOS Flex, or remove the hard disk for use with Tails.

If you need an inexpensive solidarity laptop, you can contact us over Signal or come directly to our consultation hours and receive a device depending on availability.

Freifunk advice​

If you have any questions about Freifunk, especially regarding personal use (in flats/flatshares) and anonymity aspects, you are also welcome to contact us. For larger (fixed) installations, e.g. in public places or public spaces, we can direct you to the relevant groups.
